Quatuor pour Réseaux is an interactive audiovisual installation that transformed an underground intersection at Montreal's Place des Arts into a responsive sound environment. The installation converted visitors' IP addresses into musical elements, performed by four virtual singers projected onto paper surfaces. As people connected to the WiFi, their devices' unique addresses shaped different aspects of the music - each number in the IP sequence controlling parameters like pitch, duration, and repetition patterns.
Glass speakers embedded in the space transmitted these computer-generated voices, allowing the sound to flow through the transit area. The result was a constantly shifting musical piece that reflected the digital traces of passing visitors.
